The original esssay brief:
Junior: A monument in film-making history.
This essay must seek to prove my theory that Junior (1994, directed by Ivan Reitman and staring Arnold Schwarzenegger & Danny DeVito) is the best film ever made, and thus crosses the boundary into becoming a monumental artwork in it's own right, and should be viewed as such.
The central point in this essay should be the range of subjects that Junior covers, the casting of Arnold Schwarzenegger as an intelligent yet compassionate character within it, and the double irony that is also extremely intelligent, and assumes an equally learned viewer. This essay should examine the film positively however, and pay close attention to the context of the setting (mid 90's America), the casting, the central plot, and it's potential impact on society (huge).
This essay should reference Frederic Jameson, Jean Baudrillard, Roland Barthes, Jean-Paul Sartre, Marc Auge and Freud.
